Apparently there are some who are already pointing their finger at Wheldon? I saw the replays and he didn’t cause the crash, he was caught up in it and there wasn’t anything he could do.
I did not know who you were before yesterday and I do not follow the IndyCar series, however, as a fan of Formula1 any motor sport accident like what happened yesterday definitely captures my attention. We are not invincible and while significant advances have been made in auto sport over the last decade, accidents still happen. There is only so much you can prepare for and while some will spend the coming days dissecting the accident and second-guessing the IndyCar series on any number of things, we all must realize that this is a dangerous sport and always will be. A certain amount of risk will always exist and cannot be 100% eliminated.
My thoughts and prayers are with the Dan Wheldon family, his friends, teammates and all of motor sport. “May our Father in Heaven reach down and hold his wife and young sons in His loving embrace and may they know His love, protection, comfort, and strength.”
